As the primary care provider, the family doctor (general practitioner) is the health manager and primary and trusted contact for all health issues. He is the hub of the healthcare system, so he holds the key position in the system. General medicine is a subject in its own right and therefore all medical faculties must establish their own university institutes for general medicine. Every medical student must be taught and examined in general medicine and thus recognize the independence of the subject of general medicine.
